Spring Festival
  Sixty Years
 



The Spring Festival concludes with a focus on Palestine to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Nakba.

 This sub-program is titled “60 Years” and includes :

A photography exhibition titled "Palestine before 1948" curated by Akram Zaatari - Arab Image Foundation and a presentation for the website "Palestine in Arabic" a documenting website for the Palestinian history made by a group of Arab youth. Both the photography exhibition and the website presentation will take place in the same night on Thursday the 15th of May in Rawabet.

The Festival will also present readings by a group of young Palestinian writers, Alaa Hlehel, Asmaa Azaizeh, Khaled Abdallah and Hala Al Shorouf on Thursday 22 May in Rawabet. On the same night the results of the Hanzala cartoon competition will be announced. This competition was announced by Al Mawred Al Thaqafy in March 2008 for the best cartoon on the theme of Al Nakba.

Finally and on the festival's last night Ahdaf Soueif will give a lecture on her visit to Palestine titled "Palestine: Memories and Discoveries" at 7 PM followed by an Oud solo concert by the young Palestinian musician Nizar Rohana on Friday the 23 May in Rawabet at 9 PM.
