Cultural Management: Building Knowledge
and Developing Human Capacity
As part of Culture Resource's efforts for building knowledge and developing human capacity in cultural management, Culture Resource published in 2006 the first Arabic "Guide to Cultural Management", in collaboration with Sharkiat Publishing House in Cairo.
The guide was authored by Marina Barham (Palestine), Makhlouf Boukrouh (Algeria), Hanane Hajjali (Lebanon) and Basma El Husseiny (Egypt). The Guide to Cultural Management covers topics such as: the position of culture, policies and legislation; management of cultural organizations, production and event management; and management of networks and collaborative projects. It also includes a recommended five day course for beginning and early career cultural managers and a list of Arab trainers.
The Guide was distributed to over 100 cultural organizations in the region and
the second edition was published in the begining of 2009.

In July 2007 Culture Resource, in collaboration with Sharkiat Publishing House in Cairo and with support from the European Cultural Foundation, published two books in the field of cultural management. The books are available at Sharkiat Publishing House in Cairo. An electronic version could also be read or download from Culture Resource's website. The two books are:
1 - "Strategic Planning in the Arts: a Practical Guide" first edition 2007, written by Michael M. Kaiser and translated by Michel Habib.
This book was published in cooperation with the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in the United States of America, and is a practical guide for workers in non-profit cultural organizations.

2 - "Arts Management in Turbulent Times" first edition 2007, written by Milena Dragićević Šesić and Sanjin Dragojević, and translated by PhD. Nihad Salem.
